Thickening Properties of Carboxymethyl Cellulose in Aqueous Lubrication

نویسندگان

چکیده

Increasingly restricted availability and environmental impact of mineral oils have boosted the interest in sustainable lubrication. In this study, thickening properties sodium carboxymethyl celluloses (CMCs) were investigated order to assess their potential as viscosity modifiers aqueous gear bearing fluids. The pressure, temperature shear dependence was studied at different concentrations molecular weights MW. tribological grades both sliding rolling contact, compared rapeseed oil polyethylene glycol 400. CMC solutions adjustable all application-relevant grades. Viscosity indices similar or higher reference fluids oil. Temporary permanent losses increased with Permanent loss highest for high MW derivatives, up 70%. pressure-viscosity coefficients α low showed a dependency on concentration. 35% lower friction values MW, whereas no improvement lubricating observed contact. results suggest that has great bio-based thickener

Electric Properties of Carboxymethyl Cellulose

Carboxymethyl cellulose [C6H7O(OH)3x(OCH2COOH)x]n is a derivative of the regenerated cellulose [C6H10O5]n with hydroxy-acetic acid (hydroxy ethanoic acid) CH2(OH)COOH or sodium monochloroacetate ClCH2COONa. The CMC backbone consist of D-glucose residues linked by -1,4-linkage. The molecular mass of one glucose unit in CMC chain is mCMC = 146.14 + 75.04x, where x  3 is the degree of substitu...

Synthesis, Characterisation and Flocculation Properties of Carboxymethyl Cellulose-g Acrylamide

Graft copolymers of acrylamide on carboxymethyl cellulose (d.s 0.4-0.5) were prepared by the use of ceric ion, ceric ion/reductant molecule initiator systems in aqueous medium. The graft copolymers were characterized by IR spectroscopy. The extent of graft copolymerisation was measured in terms of grafted chains as a function of both ceric ion and ceric ion/reductant molecule concentrations. It...

effect of guar and carboxymethyl cellulose thickening agentson the physical and rheological properties of set fruit yogurt

in this study, wasinvestigated the effect of two thickening agents, carboxymethyl cellulose (cmc) and guar on the rheological properties of set fruit yogurt. viscoelastic modulus (g' , g'), apparent viscosity and complex viscosity increased and loss factor decreased by increasing carboxymethyl cellulose and guar content up to 0.2% and 0.06% respectively. however, in the concentrations...
